French Genealogy Related Links
John P. DuLong

The following links are the ones I use most frequently in my French genealogical
research. From these web sites I am usually able to find the information
I need or a link to another web site with the data I seek.
 |
Genealogy Québec is the best online site for tracing French-Canadian genealogy. It includes indexed abstracts of records of Québec from 1621 to the 1940s with links to original parish registers. |
 |
FrancoGène. This is Denis
Beauregard's impressive project that covers all aspects of French
research. It is probably the best place to start for Acadian or
French Canadian genealogy information on the Internet. Denis
is also heavily involved with the Fichier
Origine project to identify the specific places of origin for
all the immigrants to New France. |
 |
Acadian-Cajun Genealogy.
Tim Hebert is producing an excellent site for doing Acadian
and Cajun genealogy. He includes some transcriptions of original
records, like censuses. |
 |
French Heraldry
and Related Topics. This is one of my favorite sites to visit.
François Velde has done a tremendous job providing us with information
about French heraldry. He also has pages dedicated to heraldry in
general and for other ethnic groups at Heraldica. |
 |
Cyndi's List of Genealogy
Sites on the Internet. This is one stop shopping for genealogical
sources of information on the Internet. It is well organized and
frequently updated. |
