Hello Folks,

Just a reminder that our next meeting will be 10:00am Saturday 9 September
2006 at the Mount Clemens Public Library. This is our annual potluck
meeting, so bring food or drink to share. We will also have Diane Oslund
speak on "The Grave Yard Shift," tips on how to find your ancestor's burial
site and why it is important to do so.

Our September meeting is also when we make nominations for officers to serve
in the following year. So far I have people who have volunteered to serve
next year as Vice President, Treasurer, and Registrar. We still need
someone to serve as President, Corresponding Secretary, Program Planning
Chair, and Recording Secretary. I would say that these jobs take about 16
to 24 hours of work a month. Please, if you want to see our Society thrive,
then step forward and volunteer to serve as an officer.

Although we have never had a contested election, this is a group run on
democratic principles, so we can have more than one person run for an
office.

The FCHSM is one of the largest genealogical societies in Michigan, has a
great journal thanks to Gail F. Moreau-DesHarnais and her team of
assistants, we now have the 501(C)3 status, and we are poised for another 25
years of success. So please consider serving as an officer next year.

As for myself, I am stepping down because my wife and I are working on a
book together and we want to complete it within the next two years, so I
need to concentrate on this project. I will help the next president and I
have a transition notebook with all the facts and important papers necessary
to hit the ground running.

Send me an email if you want to be an officer or speak up at the meeting.

See you on the 9th.
