Do you have an ancestor who was in the French and Indian Wars, 1756-1763?
Gail Moreau-DesHarnais, FCHSM member (_gfmoreau1 at aol.com_
(mailto:gfmoreau1 at aol.com) )
Jacques Azema dit St. Martin, ancestor of FCHSM member, Delphine Goodwin – in
the Royal-Roussillon Regiment, Company of Serviès (See MHH, April 2005,
October 2005, July 2006 for more information)
Jacques Billiau dit L’Espérance / dit Patoka, ancestor of FCHSM members,
Sharon Kelley and George Potts – in the Company of Beaujeu (Louis Liénard, sieur
de Villemonde et de Beaujeu – in the “Colonials”)
Étienne Blanchard dit Berrichon, ancestor of FCHSM member, Girard Paul
Blanchard – in the Berry Regiment, Company of Milhau
Pierre Ferrier dit Laferrière, ancestor of FCHSM member, John P. DuLong – in
the Royal-Roussillon, Company of Ducros
Joseph L’Enfant, ancestor of FCHSM members, Michelle Emmons and Joyce Digue,
in the Sarre Regiment, Company of Remigny.
Charles Mercier dit Lajoie, ancestor of FCHSM member John P. DuLong – in the
Berry Regiment, Company of Villemontel and later Cadillac
Jacques Nouvion dit Sanscartier, ancestor of FCHSM members, Judy Cartier and
Dean Russo-Metivia – in the Béarn Regiment, Company of Jourdeau
Pierre Protin dit Protin, ancestor of FCHSM members, John and Gabriel
DesHarnais – in the Berry Regiment, Company of Villemontel and later Cadillac
Giraud Santoire dit Larose, ancestor of FCHSM member, Carol George – in the
Royal-Roussillon Regiment, Company of Bassignac
I am in the process of gathering material on each of the above men and the
Regiments and / or companies they were in. A series of ongoing articles will
be in MHH, similar to the ones already done concerning Jacques Agement/
Azema/Son dit St. Martin.
The ancestor does not have to be one of the above. If you have a male
ancestor who appears around 1755 in Québec and you are unable to link him back to
one of the earlier families, it is possible this ancestor was “newly-arrived”
from France and took part in the French and Indian Wars. Please contact me
and I will do what I can to help with your research.
