This is the family that Im attempting to research in Michigan, starting
with my Great-Great Grandfather MORIN:
Antoine or Antoni MORIN (my G-G-GPa) born April 04, 1820 at Ste. Marie De
Beauce, Quebec, Canada was the son of Joachim MORIN and Suzanne DEMERS.
They were married August 18, 1801 in Ste. Marie De Beauce, Quebec, Canada.
This is as far back as Ive been able to determine ancestry for now.
His son, Frederick N. MORIN (my G-GPa) (born July 31, 1868) and his wife
Sarah {DELORME} MORIN (born May 16, 1873) married about 1891 (per ages on
1930 U.S. census). They lived outside Ottawa, Ontario, Canada until they
moved/immigrated to Detroit, Michigan, U. S. A. in 1926, and are shown in
the 1928 Detroit City Directory as living at 7905 Fulton Avenue. Also shown
in 1930 U.S. census as living at 7905 Fulton Avenue, Detroit, Wayne County,
Michigan, U.S.A. They had 17-19 children:
Son Frederick Anthony Morin (my GPa) born May 4, 1892 at Rockland, Ontario
was the oldest. He was married to (my GMa) Dora Elizabeth/Elisabeth {Myers}
MORIN born July 7th, 1890, but marriage date is unknown at present. He died
October 2, 1959 of a heart attack. My Mom was his daughter Marion Rita
{MORIN} DOHERTY.
Daughter Ivonne (or Yvonne) Morin born August 16, 1893.
Son Philip W. Morin born February 8, 1896.
Daughter Norah (or Nora) Morin born July 11, 1897. Married Eugene (or Gene)
Sbuttoni (or Sputtoni).
Daughter Gertrude or (Gerts or Gerty/Gertey) Morin born December 10, 1898.
Married ????? Vinette.
Son Arthur A. Morin born Jun 21, 1900 (or 1901).
Daughter Irène (1930 U.S. census incorrectly says Ilene) Morin born in
August, 1902). Immigrated to U.S. in 1926 with parents. Later married
famous Scottish professional golfer Bill (assume William) Fox (played
against Byron Nelson, Gene Littler, etc.).
Son Thomas Morin born in September, 1903). Immigrated to U.S. in 1925
(according to 1930 U.S. census) so seems to have moved prior to parents and
rest of the family.
Son Réné Morin born in November, 1904. Married to Juliette ??????.
Daughter Alma Morin born in March, 1906.
Son Victor Morin born in June, 1907.
Daughter Antoine (or Antoinette, always known as Antoine) MORIN birth date
unknown. Later married Alvona Beauregard.
Son Antime (or Antoin or Anthony, always known as Tony) MORIN born in July
1910 (or 1911/1912 ) ). Immigrated to U.S. in 1926 with parents. Wifes
name was Alvona ??????.
Daughter Cecile Morin, born about 1913 (age 17 on 1930 U.S. census).
Immigrated to U.S. in 1926 with parents (Cashier at Movie 1930). Later
married Paul Chauvin.
Daughter Simone (or Simonne) Morin, born about 1915 (age 15 on 1930 U.S.
census). Immigrated to U.S. in 1926 with parents. Husbands name was David
Ranger.
Son Euclid Morin, born about 1917 (age 13 on 1930 U.S. census). Immigrated
to U.S. in 1926 with parents. Later married Toni (Antoinette??, Rita??, was
always known as Aunt Toni/Tony to me) ?????.
Im still missing from 1-3 children of my GGPa Frederick N. MORIN. I heard
when I was a child that there were two deaths of children when very young.
However, I may have been mixing that up with my GPa Frederick Anthony, since
I have determined that he and his wife had two children who died, one during
the 1918 Flu epidemic, and another of crib death in 1922. So this means
that there may have been just 17 children altogether as a couple of contacts
I already know have told me.
Regardless, Ive still only accounted for 16 children above from the 1901
and 1911 Canadian censuses and the 1930 U.S. census. If anyone knows who
the 16th sibling is please advise. I did find a James in the same area on
the 1901 Canadian census, but he didnt seem to be tied into our family so
Ive left him out for now.
I mentioned in a previous post that I am one of the Canadians who came down
and served in the United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam Conflict,
specifically the U. S. Air Force. I was actually assigned and lived at
Selfridge AFB, Michigan in 1967-68. During that time I visited with
Great-Uncle Euclid MORIN and his family a number of times. Unfortunately I
cant remember any of his kids names. His wifes name was Aunt Toni
(Antoinette I think). I also visited with Aunt Irene and Uncle Bill FOX who
lived in Windsor. I knew them quite well because I had spent one summer
with them when I was a child. I lost touch with everyone after Euclids
funeral, my marriage, and my discharge from the Air Force when I moved to
California. Ive since moved back to Canada. I would sure like to contact
any of those individuals who remember me. Id also like to connect with
anyone in Michigan whos actively researching this family.
