I was at the demonstration at the Capital in Lansing today representing the FCHSM, we then went into the Senate building and met with our State Senator to tell them our concerns. I met with Senator Ray Basham. I do think we need to keep in touch with our representatives and let them know we want the Library funding to remain, $10 million is needed by the State so they can get the Federal funds for Mel and MeLCat (Mel.org) that needs to be saved. We did get a red tee shirt to wear and it really looked good with the sea of red. Thanks for everyone who came to the MGC meeting also at 1:00 pm. Miles and I again represented FCHSM. you need to go to http://mimgc.org/ to see what is going on with the MGC State Genealogical Societies. Most of our legislature have never visited the Library of Michigan and have no idea what is there but have been impressed with the contacts they have been having with the users of the library. Keep up the pressure to
help our cause.
Thanks,
Irene Purdy Church
