Once you have located your grandfather's property on the illustration of sections, you can then e-mail the reference librarian at the Portage Lake District Library in Houghton and ask about maps.

It's possible that the librarian would be willing to send you a copy of a map or give you the title of a land atlas book which might be available at a library such as the Detroit Public Library.

Hello,
I recently acquired the file of my great-grandfather's land grant in
Houghton County. The legal land description tells me the Section,
Range, Township, etc. Does anyone know how I find out where this is on
a map of Houghton County? Is there such a map on the internet?
