From jpstonge at peoplepc.com Mon Mar 1 08:06:23 2010 From: jpstonge at peoplepc.com (John St.Onge) Date: Mon, 1 Mar 2010 11:06:23 -0500 Subject: [FCHSM] Land Grant Message-ID: <6C2DAA05-2038-42AC-BFF8-F84E59EC64FA@peoplepc.com> The various suggestions I received for locating a land grant worked very well, and I thought others might like to know the method. The following link gives a clear explanation of the legal terms used: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/deq/ogs-oilandgas-mapping-t-r-s_263223_7.pdf Then www.michigan.gov. Search: map, gives several links to good maps including at least two with range, township, section markings. These make it very easy to locate a parcel of land, and can also be printed and downloaded. This is the one that worked for me. It shows all the counties and you click the one you need. http://www.michigan.gov/cgi/0,1607,7-158-52927_53037_12540_13818-30743--,00.html I appreciate the great help I received and am glad to share the good results. Therefore, we would like to encourage you to come and again spend the day using the library and archives. Again I would like to thank the community for their support of Council during this time. We are still working towards a solution to this problem. While we cannot give many details at this time, please know that we are working hard and hopefully we may be able to say more at our March delegate meeting. Please remember that our March 11 meeting is at the Lansing Family History Center in East Lansing. The committee meetings start at 10 and the delegate meetings begin at 1 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there. Best wishes, Cynthia S.
